KEY INGREDIENTS

SHEA BUTTER: In Africa, it is the key ingredient to treat and calm irritations, dry to very dry skin, for adults but also for infants. But shea butter has many other benefits! Note that the best way to use your shea butter is to take a small amount, melt it in your hands and apply it on the affected area (body, face and hair). Although it is self-sufficient, you can also incorporate it into a homemade cream or balm recipe to vary the textures.

HOW TO USE

USE FOR SKIN

Daily care
Need a protective and restorative lip balm? A cream for chapped hands or damaged feet? A nourishing and moisturizing treatment for the face or body? Look no more, you have found them all in one product: Shea butter.

Skin problems
Due to its composition, shea butter can be very useful against skin problems: on contact, psoriasis, eczema, severe desquamation or cracks are attenuated and/ or disappear.
Its healing and protective power will help the skin to recover faster. The anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties, on the other hand, will sanitize wounds and calm irritations.

Premature aging
In addition to moisturizing and nourishing the skin, Shea butter restores elasticity and suppleness to the skin, while fighting free radicals. Thus, wrinkles are attenuated, cell renewal promoted and the signs of time, pushed back.

USE FOR HAIR

Applied on the tips before shampooing or as a care for dry hair, Shea butter protects the hair from external aggressions (heating devices, sun, cold, rain, pollution, chlorine, etc.), while giving it shine and vitality.
In addition to repairing brittle hair, it softens and moisturizes the scalp, thus fighting dandruff.

USE FOR HEALTH

After the sport
Anti-inflammatory and local analgesic, shea butter can relieve sore muscles, but also prevent discomfort related to sport such as strains, dislocations, sprains or aches.
It is sufficient to perform a hot massage on the area under stress with a nugget of vegetable butter, until penetration of the product.

Protect yourself from the sun
Be careful, shea butter is not a sunscreen! It should not be used alone when you expose yourself. However, applied before sunscreen, it can strengthen the action of the latter and therefore protect you more.
Used daily, it also helps prevent sunburn, sun allergies, burning sensations and brown spots in the long term.

USE FOR MOM AND BABY

During pregnancy
Applied daily on the stomach, hips, breasts and thighs, it can prevent pregnancy-related stretch marks and mitigate those that have already formed. Not only will it keep the skin hydrated and healthy, but also strengthen its elasticity.

During breastfeeding
Thanks to its strong healing and repairing power, Shea butter can not only prevent stretch marks, but also relieve and treat cracks that may appear on the chest and nipple. Apply as soon as needed to relieve pain.

For baby
Nothing is more fragile and sensitive than an infant’s skin: to take care of it, apply a little shea butter on the baby’s body after bathing, as well as on his back after each change.

Note that it is best to test the elbow fold beforehand to make sure your baby is not allergic.

THE BENEFITS OF SHEA BUTTER FOR A SOFT AND SILKY SKIN
Whether you’re a big fan of shea butter or are considering trying this great source of hydration for the first time, you’ve come to the right place. You will discover the main benefits of shea butter for the skin. Read to learn how shea butter is used, how it’s made and its long list of properties and uses.

    WHAT DOES SHEA BUTTER CONTAIN?
Shea butter contains a number of different vitamins, fatty acids and lipids, all of which contribute to healthy and happy skin. The following is a summary of the main sources and their effects.

Linoleic acid helps strengthen the skin barrier to better retain moisture while preventing irritants from entering. Our body cannot produce linoleic acid, so we must obtain it by mouth or through the diet.

    - Stearic acid is an amino acid that helps oil and water combine to help remove dirt and excess sebum from skin and hair.

    - Palmitic acid is a fatty acid commonly used as an emollient or moisturizer. It has the ability to soften the skin and promote water retention in skin cells.

. Oleic acid is a fantastic remedy for aging or dryness of the skin. It can penetrate the skin and replenish lost moisture while preventing further loss. All this without clogging the pores, a mechanism that can lead to skin rashes.

    - Cetyl esters are the waxy part of shea butter, which helps retain moisture in the skin.

    - Vitamin A helps to even out skin tone, fight infections, stimulate the renewal of skin cells, protect against UV damage and slow down the signs of aging.

    - Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant, capable of fighting the signs of aging by reducing damage caused by UV.

    - Vitamin F strengthens the skin barrier, transforming into ceramide when applied to the skin, a key ingredient in maintaining the upper barrier of healthy and hydrated skin.

    Details

    WHAT IS SHEA BUTTER
Shea butter is made from nuts that grow on the sun-loving shea trees of sub-Saharan Africa. This butter is used in all kinds of cosmetics - from lip care to anti-inflammatory products - all known for their soothing properties. It can even be used to soothe dry skin, dandruff, eczema or scars caused by acne. Shea butter is also known to be safe for people with nut allergies.

WHAT SHEA BUTTER IS MADE OF
Unlike the images you may have seen of whipped butter on a brown nut cut in half, shea nuts do not contain any ready-to-use buttered substance. Shea butter is derived from the shea nut, but the product is a crushed and processed version of the nut itself, not just its inside. The process is as follows:
When harvested from the shea tree, the core is surrounded by a shell and a fleshy outer layer. This outer layer is discarded and not used in the process.

    - The nuts are boiled to sterilize, then dried under the warm African sun.

    - Once dried, the kernel is extracted, the main ingredient of shea butter.

    - The inner nuts are then washed and dried again in the sun.

    - They are then crushed, crushed and roasted on a fire to extract the oils.

    - Once roasted, they are kneaded into a thick paste with fresh water.

    - Fresh water is added to the paste, which results in separation of oils and solids.

    - The oil can then be skimmed on top.

    - The final product is then boiled, which removes impurities, and allowed to cool.

    HOW TO CHOOSE SHEA BUTTER
First, make sure you use a raw butter that has not been bleached or deodorized. These chemical processes tend to denature the product, taking away much of its vitamins and other beneficial fatty acids.

Good shea butter is colored – from pale yellow to more intense yellow, and has a strong smell (which fades very quickly when used).

You will find this wonderful product under the name of Butyrospermum parkii in the INCI of your cosmetic products. If it is at the top of the list, your product contains a large amount of shea butter, if it is at the bottom of the list, the product will contain little. And if you still don’t know how to read your cosmetic labels, our article on the description of these will help you see them more clearly.
