    Details

The fruit of Citrus sinensis is called Sweet Orange for the difference between the bitter orange and the Citrus aurantium (Bigaradier). Originally from China, the Orange Citrus sinensis was brought back to Europe by Portuguese sailors in the 16th century.

It is in the small reservoirs of the orange peel that the essence of Orange is located and it is extracted by simple expression (cold pressing). We therefore speak of “essences” for citrus fruits, to distinguish them from the “essential oils” extracted by steam distillation. For the sake of simplification we will often use the term “essential oil” for essences.

The purifying and fragrant properties of this essence have long been used since traditionally, clove-spiked oranges ("amber apples") were used to keep moths out of cupboards, perfume and decorate homes before Christmas. This oil is also traditionally known for its relaxing and optimizing action with its sweet and sweet scent. It is one of the most used essential oils in aromatherapy.

    PRECAUTIONS

This oil is photosensitizing. Do not expose yourself to the sun for at least 6 h after a dermal application of this oil.

Do not use during the first 3 months of pregnancy.

May be irritating to the skin (dermocaustic): always dilute well in a vegetable oil for use on the skin.

Keep out of reach of children.

    Avoid contact with eyes.

Some natural compounds contained in this essential oil may present a risk of allergy to certain sensitive people when the essential oil is incorporated into a cosmetic composition (according to the 7th Amendment of the European Directive on cosmetic products (2003/15/EC)): limonene, linalool, citral (geranial and neral).

As a general rule, always test your preparation in the elbow fold at least 48 hours before using it.

For use as a cosmetic ingredient please refer to the specific precautions.
